• What type of clothing should I bring? How many looks will we do?

Bring around 3-5 outfits. I recommend bringing block colours as opposed to patterned garments. Shirts (white, medium and dark colours), jacket(s) and pullovers as well as dresses for the ladies are usually perfect for most headshots. The simpler the better. The lower half is less important but do still make sure it looks tidy. Make sure everything is ironed. If you have long hair it can be nice to change the hairstyle (up or down, with or without fringe) for a different look. If you are a glasses wearer and have multiple frames, please bring them along. Many of my clients arrive with a suitcase. So don't be shy, it's fine to look like you're moving in. I will help you choose the best combinations for the best possible results.

  • How much time do you allocate for the session?

About one hour for the session, it can take less, sometimes more time. If you are having your hair and makeup done please allow for one more hour. On location shoots can vary in time, so if you are in a rush on the day, let me know!

  • Approximately how many shots will I have to choose from and how do I receive them?

During your personal viewing session which is normally about one week after your photo shoot you will be able to choose your favourite shots from a selection of about 30 photographs. You will receive your photographs either via dropbox, email or on a USB memory stick. It all depends on the size of your order. This is usually the day after you've paid for your order in full.

  • What is your payment policy?

You pay for the session on the day of the photo shoot. You can pay in cash, via EFTPOS or Credit card (Visa or MasterCard). There is a 3% surcharge on credit card payments. When choosing your final photographs you are able to purchase additional photographs or upgrade your favourite images to High resolution negative by using the same payment method as before. I do offer 2-3 months instalments as well if this will make this investment easier for you. You will receive all your final images as soon as your last instalment has been paid.

  • Do you have a monitor to see the pictures during the shoot?

As I focus on a good flow between poses and setups I don't stop and go through images I took whilst photographing you. For me these are two separate processes that are difficult to mix. Staying in the 'zone' is much more important and beneficial for a good outcome. I will however provide you with constant input, advice and feedback to ensure you are captured in the best light. So don't worry. You will not be left unguided at anytime of the photo shoot.

  • Can I just turn up or do I have to make an appointment? Where do I go?

Photo sessions with me are relaxed, private and usually one on one. In order to allow for an uninterrupted photo session with every client you need to book in via this form. The information you provide will help me find a time and date that suits you and is available. I will then email you my address in downtown Wellington along with parking information.

  • What kind of camera do you use ?

I really enjoy being low-key and your friend (rather than the hired hand) who happens to take photographs of you as we're spending some time together. A camera doesn't turn one into a talented photographer like an amazing chef is not asked about which oven he used to prepare his creations. Some years ago I have fallen in love with Leica rangefinder cameras. I love the not intimidating size of them, the yummy colours and quality when combined with my beloved 50mm Summicron made in 1969! Quality that is simply excellent gives me a tool to make instead of take your photo. It's artisanic not the hunt for the latest gadget! I leave that to others. Leica brings the romance and craft back into photography which is simply priceless and as important for me as its image quality and German craftsmanship that Leica is known for. Being manual focus it slows down moments which is excellent for someone like me who likes to think before capturing the light. If you are interested in learning more about photographing with Leica Rangefinders take a look at Thorsten Overgaard's website . Make yourself a hot cuppa beforehand however as it may soak you up for hours!
